Recently on the Prizma Graphics blog, we wrote about the disadvantageous news for many of our customers, that HP is set to discontinue production of its No. 82 inks and No. 11 printheads by the end of 2022.

These ink cartridges and printheads have long been used with HP’s Designjet 500, 510, and 800 printers. But as we stated in that blog post, even if you are unable to find stocks of the remaining official products from these ranges, we can help find you suitable replacements.

However, what if the news that these inks and printheads will no longer be available has prompted you to consider replacing your HP Designjet 500, 510, or 800 itself? Well, in that case, you might be interested to learn about the newer printer models we recommend to take their place on your premises.

Canon’s 24” TM-200 and 36” TM-300 models continue to impress

If you are in the market for a new 24” A1 printer or 36” A0 printer for the purposes of CAD or poster printing, there is no reason to allow brand loyalty alone to keep you tied to HP – especially when the latest alternatives from Canon are so convincing.

We are, of course, referring to the Canon ImagePROGRAF TM-200 and TM-300 for 24” A1 and 36” A0 printing respectively. These are machines that already enjoy a formidable reputation on account of their precision, performance, and productivity.

The TM-200 and TM-300 are certainly both rapid large-format printers – capable of producing an A1 print in 24 seconds in the case of the former, and an A0 print in 40 seconds in the case of the latter. However, these sophisticated Canon inkjet printers are just as well-known for the exceptional colour vibrancy and remarkably sharp lines of the print results themselves, both models being supplied with five colours and an amazing 490ml of ink.

When you consider these factors alongside their borderless printing capability, quiet operation, and even the flat rear designs of these printers that enables them to be easily placed against a wall to save office space, it can be no great surprise that so many people are considering replacing their HP wide-format printer with a Canon TM-200 or TM-300.

But of course, HP has impressive options too, such as the Designjet T650

From all the above, we do not mean to suggest that you should only consider a Canon device as a replacement for your existing HP wide-format printer – and indeed, HP offers an excellent option of its own, in the form of the Designjet T650.

This four-colour CAD and general-purpose printer can be had in both A1 24” and A0 36” forms; either way, this could be the ideal device for both your office operations and your budget. It is able to automatically print multi-size A3/B and A1/D projects – and you can add A0/D to that list in the case of the A0 36” model – without the need to manually switch the media source.

One of the best things about the T650 is that it is exceedingly easy to use. Living up to its name, HP Click enables you to send multiple files in a single click, and the intuitive driver and true print preview will allow you to be confident about the results you will get. Printing takes just 25 seconds per A1/D plot using the T650, while HP’s Bright Office Inks allow for great-quality results to be achieved.

All in all, the Designjet T650 is a superb all-round HP wide-format printer, characterised by ease of use, convenience, and sustainability. Both variants of this printer are now available from Prizma Graphics for a very attractive price.

Nor is it only these particular large-format printing solutions that we would be pleased to have a conversation with you about.
