Building on its already formidable track record in wide-format printing solutions, Canon recently launched the ImagePROGRAF TC-20, a 24” desktop four-colour CAD and poster printer that is easy to use and well-suited to a variety of environments, including small offices, retail stores, educational settings, and even homes.

But if you have recently invested in this highly regarded device, do you have the papers that will enable you to get the best out of your TC-20 on a day-to-day basis?

Much depends, of course, on the specific applications you have in mind for your TC-20 and its capabilities in the production of high-quality prints. So, let’s take a look at some of the media options that might be considered, in line with a few of the most common applications.

For check plots, dyeline printing, and pattern making

For users of the TC-20 who might have invested in this 24” printer in the expectation of doing a lot of monochrome printing for projects like the above, the chances are that they would struggle to find a better paper for the job than our Prizma Graphics-branded 60gsm semi-translucent inkjet plotter paper.

One of the most noticeable aspects of this paper is its light weight, which certainly helps to lower postage costs. However, you are likely to be just as thankful for this paper’s smoothness and uniform composition, as well as the degree of ‘see-through’ that lends itself nicely to tracing and overlays.

It’s no wonder that so many pattern makers, for instance, are fond of this paper for the creation of sewing patterns.

For plotting CAD drawings, plans, design layouts, and technical documents

We also offer a 90gsm uncoated smooth white inkjet paper for use with the TC-20, which is no less than our most sought-after paper – and for good reason.

This plotter paper is ideally suited to the printing of high-quality mono and line colour work, enabling users to achieve excellent contrast and very dense black and colour fills. It is a paper that represents a nice balance of quality and affordability, and it also has excellent lay-flat qualities for easier handling.

Another extremely good-value, but also good-quality, paper to consider for plotting CAD drawings, plans, design layouts and technical documents is our 80gsm draft uncoated inkjet plotter paper. Its lighter weight compared to the 90gsm option allows for drawings to be folded more easily, and if you happen to need to distribute those drawings by post, you won’t need to pay so much for postage, either.

For photographic images, posters, and point of sale

Photographic, poster, and point of sale applications – and certainly signs and displays that will be used outdoors – come with certain requirements that cannot be fulfilled by just ‘any old’ large-format printing paper.

It is therefore handy that we can also make available Canon-branded 190gsm instant dry gloss photo inkjet plotter paper, which – as its name suggests – can be relied upon to provide an instant dry gloss coating.

Your posters and point of sale signs will certainly make all the more of an impression, with vibrant, sharp, and photo-realistic colour imagery, when you choose this glossy paper, which is also available in a 260gsm finish, in the event that you are seeking a heavier weight paper.

Don’t forget, too, to have this paper hot and cold laminated if you do intend to use the printed results for short-term outdoor display purposes.

For high-quality CAD overlays, design layouts, and final drawings

High-quality applications necessitate the large-format printing paper to match, and you will certainly get that when you opt for our Prizma Graphics-branded 112gsm heavy weight, highly calendered inkjet tracing paper. This paper is the frequent choice of architects and engineers who wish to create impressive CAD overlays, design layouts, and final drawings of exacting print quality.

This paper has a smooth and uniform composition that provides great transparency, while its production from chlorine-free wood pulp helps to make it highly suitable for archiving.

For exhibitions, displays, point of sale and outdoor banners

Finally, we are also pleased to be able to offer a 120-micron matt white self-adhesive inkjet vinyl option that, again, fits the Canon TC-20. This media can be laminated and water-resistant with pigment inks, with extended outdoor use possible for as long as 12 months.

You can expect stunningly vibrant, high-quality images when you use this media with your Canon TC-20, while the self-adhesive backing makes it easy to mount your prints onto rigid PVC board – also known as “foamex” – for use outdoors, and foam board for use indoors.

If you’re unsure which media would be right for your intended application, just ask us!

There you have it – a rundown of just some of our large-format printing paper and media options that work well with the Canon TC-20 for a variety of purposes.
