It might not seem like very long since we were talking up the merits of Canon’s 24” A1 ImagePROGRAF TC-20 printer – indeed, we continue to do so. This four-colour printer still makes as much sense as it ever did for the easy production of CAD documents, drawings, and posters in such settings as small offices, retail spaces, or even at home.

However, it is also true that the world of large-format printing is a fast-moving one. In accordance with this, here at Prizma Graphics, we can now offer our customers the successor models to the TC-20 and TC-20M.

We are, of course, referring to the TC-21 and TC-21M, which are brand new and now available as of April 2025. But what is it about these compact, easy-to-use, and sustainable machines that could make either one of them an excellent choice of Canon wide-format printer for you and your organisation?

First of all… how are the TC-21 models different to their TC-20 predecessors?

There are various ways in which the TC-21 line of printers markedly improves on the TC-20 range. These new devices incorporate a tilting screen for the straightforward operation and viewing of crucial information, such as media type and ink levels.

The process of loading paper into the printer has also become more streamlined. Even smaller media, such as A6 paper sheets and envelopes, are now supported – and minimal margin printing of just 0.5mm is now possible.

If you have upgraded from the TC-20 to the TC-21, you are likely to notice the operation of the machine has quietened still further. As for the print quality, you can look forward to impressively vivid colour expression when printing posters on uncoated papers.

We mentioned above the potent sustainability credentials of the TC-20, and this continues to be the case with the TC-21 line. These new Canon models are constructed using 40% recycled plastic, and they also contain 5% recycled metal – something that has never previously been achieved in a large-format printer.

But there’s a lot to love about these printers for Canon newcomers, too

Even if you have never previously owned and operated a Canon wide-format printer, and whether you invest in one for use in an AEC office, a school, a hospitality business, or another environment, you are sure to find the TC-21 or TC-21M a formidable machine.

The “standard” TC-21 is remarkable enough; this 24” large-format printer may have a compact footprint, but it can be depended on to deliver professional quality. A broad range of prints can be created with various sizes of cut sheets, while a sharp image and dense colours can be expected due to the combination of high-quality pigment inks with advanced image processing.

If, however, you would appreciate your Canon wide-format printer also coming with a built-in A4 flatbed scanner, your wishes are very much answered by the TC-21M model.

The scanning capability of this device goes beyond simple scanning; it can enlarge prints up to A0, in addition to creating posters by scanning multiple images, and repeating images to create personalised wrapping paper. It is, then, an invaluable tool for unleashing creativity.
