The merits of the HP DesignJet T830 wide format printer scanner

Posted by Liz 27/04/2018 0 Comment(s) Prizma,HP,

In our previous news update here at Prizma Graphics, we discussed the HP DesignJet T730, and why it perfectly suits the wide format printing requirements of design, architectural, engineering, construction and building firms producing significant volumes of CAD, GIS and technical documents.

But here’s a question for you – would your organisation benefit from being able to copy wide format documents as well as print?

If your answer is yes, you may be in need of a multi-function wide format printer scanner with many of the same advantages as the T730 – in which case, the HP DesignJet T830 MFP could represent the perfect solution.

How does the T830 differ from the T730?

In many respects, it doesn’t! The HP DesignJet T830 is, in fact, the same printer as the T730 with all of the same key benefits, including the ability to produce full-colour photographic images within the limitations of the four ink colours of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Matte Black as well as technical CAD drawings. The T830 can print A1 CAD drawings in just 25 seconds, and 82 A1 prints in an hour.

One way in which the HP T830 MFP does differ from the A0 36” T730, though, is that two versions are available: the A0 36” F9A30A and the A1 24” F9A28A. The A1 variant has a 297mm to 610mm plotter paper roll size, compared to the 297mm to 914mm of the A0 model.

However, one of the real defining aspects of the T830 is its built-in scanner. Read on to discover why this feature can revolutionise your print requirements and your work space.

A true multi-function wide format printer scanner

The scanner incorporated into the HP T830 MFP transforms this printer into a wide format colour copier. It is mounted on top of the printer making this a compact unit with a small footprint, and both the printer and scanner can be operated with the touchscreen on the left-hand side of the unit.

It is a very easy to use scanner with many applications, capable of scanning full-colour technical documents with a maximum thickness of 0.8mm, while the scanner resolution is 600dpi in the PDF, JPEG and TIFF file formats.

As well as producing hard copies from your original drawing, images can also be scanned to a PC on your network or to a memory stick using the USB drive, which is useful for taking your images off-site. You can also use the T830 to scan images for archiving or emailing, copy images in monochrome or colour and resize images.

Impressive specifications for any printer of its type

The four ink colours with which the T830 is compatible are available in 40ml, 130ml and 300ml sizes to suit the volume of printing. This formidable printer also incorporates 1GB in memory, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity and a USB pen slot for printing from a memory stick.

Other key features of the T830 include the sheet feed tray for A3 and A4 cut sheets on both the A0 and A1 printers, and the remote printing that can be performed using an Apple or Android smartphone or tablet.

A two-year warranty is also provided with the T830, and, as with the HP T730, the HP DesignJet Rugged Case is available as an optional extra – albeit, only for the A0 36” model. This is a useful addition if you require a printer that can be moved easily on location or transporting; the large rugged wheels provide traction and stability while the case provides protection from water, dust and damage.

What are the most suitable papers for this printer?

As the printer element of the T830 is essentially the same as the T730, the same papers are generally recommended, including our 80gsm and 90gsm inkjet plotter paper and 112gsm tracing paper when CAD monochrome and line colour with light solid colour fill is required.

Meanwhile, when it is presentation prints and in-house posters that are needed, it is recommended that our 100gsm or 120gsm matt coated inkjet paper, 165gsm or 180gsm matt poster paper or 190gsm satin or gloss photo paper is used.

Our opinion here at Prizma Graphics is that the HP DesignJet T830 MFP is the best compact A1 and A0 wide format printer scanner for the small to medium-sized workgroup to have become available to date. That’s why we are delighted to be able to offer this sought-after model at such a competitive price, with free delivery also available to your premises’ ground floor.

But don’t just take our word for it. A review from one of our customers perfectly summarises the beauty of this printing and scanning solution. Could this be the right solution for you too?

Great compact machine that does it all. Excellent print quality on copies - you can’t tell the difference from the original.

Quicker to print from your screen than copy. Would recommend to anyone.
